Our boy, Merlen
This wonderful merle Great Dane was born on November 18, 2007. We joke he is the reason for the majorty of our repeat guests. DO NOT let the powerful bark fool you, he is a teddy bear! Quiet & reserved at times we wonder if he is there -- with the exception of 7am, noon and 5pm, he is our living alarm clock. He Loves to love and be loved. We believe he thinks he is a human.

Our girl, Roxy
Our latest edition was born June 28, 2010. She is all Aerdale Terrier! She is very smart, persistant, and is a clown. She has been staking her claim to Merlen's throne from day one - - we are pretty sure she's taken it. She has Westminister Champion in her bloodline from both the damn and sire. Plans are to breed her in the near future.

This picture is taken on the top-front porch at our JailHouse Inn on a gorgeous summer night(2010). Native's of Dubuque, Iowa, Elkader has been our home since 2004. We love the incredible charm of this surprisingly diverse, cultural small rural town. We golf, entertain, bike, hike, fish, canoe/kayak, antique shop, go to movies, dine, and attend the opera house for plays and concerts -- all here in this awesome little town.
